Sixth Street Community Church was founded by Elder Earl V. Thomas Sr. Before his call of leading a church. Elder Thomas and his family were members of Starlight COGIC. They served faithfully until Elder Earl V. was called to start and lead a church. In 1975 God gave Pastor Thomas a divine vision of going out into the community and compelling men women, and children to come to Christ. Pastor Thomas found a building, and began to serve with the help of family, community, and God. The church continued to grow and thrive until tragedy struck in 2005. Hurricane Rita totally destroyed the church. All hope seemed to be lost at that moment. But, Pastor Thomas and Sixth Street kept their faith in God. With God and helpful donations, we where able rebuild our church using some of the same bricks that where from our old church. With the help of the late great Superintendent Earl V. Thomas Sr. His son, Anthony D. Thomas Sr., is now able to lead with authority. We still reside in the same church today.
